David Hunter

Senior Advisor

David Hunter is Senior Advisor to Inaya Advisory. He has spent nearly four decades in institutional capital, including as Chief Investment Officer of two US public pension systems.

At Inaya, David reviews each new situation with Anas Ansar in senior review, then joins Abbas Chothia on the proposed approach call. He reads a raise as the allocator across the table will read it.

He was Executive Director and Chief Investment Officer of the North Dakota Retirement and Investment Office, where assets grew from about US$8 billion to nearly US$20 billion. He later served as Chief Investment Officer of the US$40 billion Texas Municipal Retirement System, with two consecutive years of top-quartile returns.

Earlier in his career he held institutional capital roles at Citicorp and SMBC, and directed more than US$7 billion in pension assets at HSBC North America.

In 2023 he was named among the ISS Power 100 Chief Investment Officers.
