PitchBook's Q3 2026 First Look shows $368.1 billion of global private equity capital raised year to date, pacing up 3.1%, while the number of funds closed, 523, is pacing down 30.5%. In the US, capital raised was $222 billion, pacing down 10.3%.

Separately, PEI Group data shows that mega-funds closing in the first three quarters of 2026 gathered $169.5bn, or 24% of all capital raised. The two data providers count differently, and their figures should be read separately.
